Experience Enrichment -- TOAST! Butter Dish

TOAST! Butter Dish.

Actually, it's more like a butter dish set, as the "Toasts" are actually butter knives.

My target consumer for this product is kids aged 3 to 6 -- male or female, although girls would probably prefer it more than boys.

The idea behind this is that I think breakfast is a way people start their day, so why not making something pleasurable that can be used during breakfast. When the father's have to go work in the office and the kids have to go to school, breakfast is the only time they can actually talk and discusses things.

The butter dish is shaped like a toaster and the butter knives/spreader as toasts, just to make it look more fun and cute, as it's what kids focus on.
I made the shape really simple and just focus more on the color, cause I think that's one of the foremost important things for kids -- it has to be visually pleasing, and nice, bright colors is the only thing that's gonna make it pops out compared to other butter dish that I've seen. My main focus for this is the colors, so I did put a lot of thought into it. I used unisex colors -- white, yellow and green for the lid, and orange for the bottom part-- with white on the inside, this is especially colored to make the butter looks better (... it rhymes!). The colors are also picked because the combination of colors is fun and elegant at the same time. For the real material, I would really like to use plastic, as it is lighter and environmentally friendly -- and it doesn't shrink when put into refrigerator, and can be easily cleaned.

For the 4 Pleasures :
--IDEO:
It has bright colors, and that makes kids happy.

--PSYCHO:
It is fun to use, especially because it's shaped like a toaster, and the knives shaped like toasts.

--PHYSIO:
The surface is really smooth, and it has round edges, which makes it safe for kids.

--SOCIO:
Kids at these ages (3-6) love to talk and interact with their peers, so the shape and the color of this makes it an interesting point for them to talk with other kids and also a talking point.

I was really taken by the novelty of your model - I know it's not supposedly constructive to describe a product design as 'cute', but it truly is! I think it very successfully appeals to your target market, what kid wouldn't be fascinated by a mini toaster and mini toast-shaped butter knives? I imagine the 'Butter Dish' would appeal to parents as well as it would motivate children to butter their own toast which would develop their independence and capability to do basic tasks on their own and also progress their motor skills, making it quite an educational learning experience. Overall, I think it's a creative and very suitable product idea for your target age bracket.

i love the design of the mini toaster and mini toast butter container. I think it really suits the target market and appeals successfully. However I'm just concerned about how the butters are all going to be scraped out?

I really like the look of your item - it's small and colourful and I believe it is well aimed at your target market. I think it was clever of you to integrate what the object is used for into your design [the toast spreaders]. I really can't see many flaws except maybe having to cut the block of butter before putting it in the butter dish as it seems as though the butter spreader holders would dig into an average sized butter block

I really like this product, it is very aesthetically pleasing and I think you've nailed the demographic with it's design, soft edges and bright colours... Fuctionally I do believe it has certain shortcommings, simply because if one was to put the untensil back in its holder, Washing may be a tough task...

A simple, fun and unusual product. It’s size makes it suitable for small hands. Colours are appealing and it is functional/educational. Not sure how flexible the spreader is but, I think it should have some movement. If it is too rigid spreading becomes difficult. And perhaps some surface texture to hold the butter/jam in place long enough to spread it evenly. I would like to see different colour combinations. Perhaps more vibrant/primary colours given the age of the T.M. Not quite sure about the green knob, I think it may be unnecessary, but it does not detract from the design. An attractive, well made model with a clean simple profile.
